'Courfeyrac had, in fact, that animation of youth which may be called the beaute du diable of the mind.

This sort of wit is transmitted from generation to generation of the successive levies of youth who traverse the schools, who pass it from hand to hand, quasi cursores, and is almost always exactly the same; so that, as we have just pointed out, any one who had listened to Courfeyrac in 1828 would have thought he heard Tholomyes in 1817. Only, Courfeyrac was an honorable fellow. Beneath the apparent similarities of the exterior mind, the difference between him and Tholomyes was very great. The latent man which existed in the two was totally different in the first from what it was in the second. There was in Tholomyes a district attorney, and in Courfeyrac a paladin.

Enjolras was the chief, Combeferre was the guide, Courfeyrac was the centre. The others gave more light, he shed more warmth; the truth is, that he possessed all the qualities of a centre, roundness and radiance.'

-- from Les Miserables, by Victor Hugo.

Courfeyrac is - was - one of the leaders of Les Amis de l’ABC, a group of students intent on revolutionising the rights of the people in Paris, 1832. He is as serious about his political beliefs as he is vivacious in other areas of life; he is a smiling, warm young man; a law student, enjoys wine, women, and conversation; loves his friends, and will never regret the choice to die with them. He is the balance between Enjolras' Priest and Combeferre's Scientist; a young man who is loyal to the death, but never afraid to live.

Canon note: Courfeyrac is mainly from book canon, but will fuse elements of the musical in order to mesh with other in-bar canonmates. The majority of timelines, backstory, and relationships will come from the Brick, but he will not be too confused if musical/movie elements crop up on conversation.

Courfeyrac is from Les Miserables, and is the property of Victor Hugo and Universal Pictures. He appears here solely for the purpose of role-playing in [community profile] milliways_bar, from which no profit whatsoever is being made. His PB is Fra Free who, presumably, belongs to himself.
